Imagine a Carbon Water Filter Big Enough To Clean Up A Whole Bay?
Can you imagine a water filter big enough to clean up San Fransciso Bay? Well, that's exactly was is being attempted according to an article in Science Daily: Cleanup Method Uses Activated Carbons To Anchor Toxins To Bottom Of The Bay "Richard Luthy, chair of Stanford's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has a plan to clean polluted sediment at Hunters Point in San Francisco with activated carbon—the same technology in many water filters. Luthy proposes to sequester dangerous toxins by mixing activated carbon, a type of carbon with a large surface area, into the bay's contaminated sediment..."
Since Al Gore's Earth Day, we have seen many exciting endeavours to help the environment. Hard to say whether it was happening before, and we are just hearing about it all.
