Iron Removal
Iron is known to leach into water supplies throughout the United States from rock and soil formations. It has been said, probably an exaggeration, that there is hardly a square foot of soil that does not have some iron content. Iron is at least 5% of the earths crust.
A yellow to reddish discoloration can appear in water in concentrations as low as 0.3 ppm (parts per million) and begin the staining and scale process, depending on the pH, as well as taste and odor problems.
Since iron is found in different forms, a removal problem is created as each type of iron may require different techniques and types of equipment. The WF Iron Filter is the only system you need. It will eliminate all Ferric and Ferrous iron from your water to 4 ppm. If you have Iron bacteria than a UV light or chlorine injection will be necessary.

3 Step Process to Iron Free Water
Step 1: Pelican Chlorination System:
The chlorination injection system oxidizes the iron using chlorine injection into the water to not only help remove the iron but disinfect the water. Our unique chlorine injection system features an injection "baffel" that helps to agitate the water while injecting the chlorine for better oxidiation and no need for a large retention tank. The simple to use, self-priming pump, features a flow-control switch allowing it to only run when water is being used.
Step 2: Greensand Plus Iron Removal
Tank two traps the iron with a filter media and gravel under bed then flushes it out with the backwash system. This Improved version of greensand improves its reduction of iron and manganese. While this can be used with potassium permgananate like the greensand filter, if a chlorine feed pump is used ahead of the Greensand-Plus filter, no permanganate is required. The Greensand-Plus filter provides an excellent long-term, relatively low-maintenance solution. GreensandPlus has received the WQA Gold Seal Certification for compliance with NSF/ANSI 61.
Step 3: Carbon Filtration
The PC600 Premium Whole House Water Filter utilizes a multi stage filtration process to filter the water going into you home. The PC600 uses the highest grade carbons available on the market which were designed /developed to completely remove or significantly reduce chlorine, sediment and/or particulate matter, VOCs, SOC's (synthetic organic chemicals), THMs, atrazine, benzene, pesticides, tastes, odors and hundreds of the potential contaminants and harmful chemicals from the water supply entering your home.
A proprietary blend of high grade granular activated carbon produced from Sri Lankan coconut shells. It has a large surface area, high pore volume and chemical stability. The ability to produce such a high microporous surface area is very limited, not a lot of manufactures can do this. Main application - adsorption of gas/vapour and for the removal of colour and odour of compounds. Specifically MTBE, VOC's, and SOC's.
